A customer with several accounts can prevent funds from sitting idly by using zero
balance accounts. Keep a zero balance in some accounts, such as petty cash or payroll,
and a higher, predetermined balance in another, such as an operating account.
When items are presented for payment, the exact amount is transferred as needed
into the appropriate account. ZBAs can be used to maximize efficient usage of
funds through pooling of cash resources and can be used in conjunction with Sweep Accounts.
